Better Business Relationships has been entered into the Business Book Awards

What an exciting start to the year! My latest book Better Business Relationships has been entered into the Business Book Awards (BBA).

In March 2018 I was delighted to join the fantastic editorial team at Bloomsbury Business and some of its leading authors at the inaugural Business Book Awards. It was a glorious event. On the night, I was also really happy that two people who I have known and admired for many years from the world of professional services – Matthew Fuller and Tim Nightingale – won the sales category with their fantastic book on tendering (which I reviewed and recommended back in May 2017). The overall winner on the night was Campbell MacPherson and I subsequently reviewed his brilliant book on change management.

At the time, I was finalising the proof-reading of my book Better Business Relationships and had no idea that once it was published in October 2018 it would be entered into the awards. I”ve been so pleased with the wonderful endorsements and reviews it has received – from people at organisations such as Cambridge Marketing College, EY, Globis, Grant Thornton,  Irish Tech News, Managing Partners Forum, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the University of Westminster and Vysable. To be entered into the Business Book Awards is a real honour.

Better Business Relationships uses the DACRIE model to look at the building blocks of relationships – appreciating difference and diversity, adaptation and learning, communications (both face-to-face and digital), how relationships are formed and conflict management strategies. Then it explores internal relationships (such as teams and collaboration) and external relationships (including selling and account management). Writing Better Business Relationships was a long-held personal ambition and a real labour of love – it examines over 130 different psychological ideas and management models.

So now it’s a nail-biting and fingers-crossed time until the short list is announced on 16th January. I hardly dare think about the awards event, which this year is on 20th March…
